When it all began....

Eddie and Sue Goodrich, in collaboration with the Town of Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, are credited as the originators of the Little Red Mailbox. Situated at Glenmere Public Beach, MP 8, Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, this mailbox serves as a beacon of hope.

Sue's motivation to start spreading hope emerged during her most challenging days following the loss of her mother. Her mother's wise words, "Sue if you ever feel sad, help someone else out" resonated with her. It was then that she approached the town with a request to install the inaugural "Little Red Mailbox, Leave a Note of Hope" in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina. Today, Glenmere Public Beach Access is affectionately referred to as
"Hope Access."
